My parents and grandparents built and opened Step’n Out in the spring of 1987, three years before I was born.
Growing up, I remember my mom plunking me in the backroom for a couple of hours so she could get some work done. It was the ultimate dress up closet for a little girl. Needless to say, I was in heaven. I still remember walking through the bridal salon and seeing these beautiful brides dressed in satin and lace gowns while completing my task of crawling underneath the dresses to pick up loose beads and pearls. I was in absolute awe.
Fast forward a few years…ok, more than a few…I graduated college and found myself living back at home. I began working for my parents at the shop merely so there was a balance in my bank account. I started in the backroom, hemming pants, steaming, and slowly worked my way to helping customers. I still remember the first bride I ever worked with. The tears of joy we all cried when she found the dress of her dreams; a lace mermaid with a mikado crumb catcher neckline named “Georgina”. The experience was magical for all. It was in that moment I realized my parents brought my dreams to life before I was even born.
For that, I cannot thank them enough. I hope to continue my dream and my family’s business for years to come with the help of our wonderful staff and loyal patrons. By supporting a local business, you are also supporting a dream.
"Seeing a bride both feeling and looking beautiful in a wedding dress that I’ve helped to select is an extremely gratifying feeling. I am proud to be allowed even a small part of such a special day."
"The first wedding I remember was a high school friend who, in day to day, wore nothing but Carharts and t-shirts. On her wedding day, she wore a full satin ballgown with a traditional chignon hairstyle. It is that memory which first inspired me to pursue helping girls transform into their own vision of a bride on such a special day."
"My job consists of making dreams come true, nothing is more rewarding than that."
"I love seeing all of the beautiful girls in amazing gowns!"
